Eric A. Ferraco, C.P.O.

Mr. Ferraco is the founder and president of Human Designs. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh, he attended the prestigious Northwestern University's orthotic program. From there he traveled to Southern California where he attended UCLA's prosthetic program. He subsequently earned his ABC certification in prosthetics and orthotics in 1987.

In 1990, Mr. Ferraco opened the first Human Designs in Long Beach California. To better serve the entire Southern California region, additional locations have been opened in Arcadia and Tustin. Mr. Ferraco works full-time as a practitioner, treating patients in both the Long Beach and Arcadia locations.

Ronald P. Merritt, C.P.O.

In 1984, Mr. Merritt earned his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Fullerton. After years of being a small business owner, Mr. Merritt decided to change careers and attended California State University, Dominguez Hills, where he completed his prosthetics education in 1996. In the following year, he was accepted into the orthotics program at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center where he was awarded for academic excellence by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.

Since joining Human Designs in 1997, Mr. Merritt has become an ABC Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist. In addition to treating patients in the Long Beach and Tustin locations, he also serves as the Educational Director.

Wilver M. Gomes, Certified Orthotist

Wilver Gomes has been serving the O&P community for 20 years.  He began his O&P career in 1990 as a teenager, working as a prosthetic technician in New York.  In 1996 he relocated to Southern California where he continued his orthotic and prosthetic training.  He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2001.  He is a board certified orthotist and is currently a board eligible prosthetist working toward his prosthetic certification. Mr. Gomes joined Human Designs in 2008.  He is a valued member of the Human Designs Orthotic - Prosthetic team.

Chris DeLeon, Orthotic Fitter

Chris specializes in fitting pre-fabricated and off-the-shelf devices for cervical, spinal, upper and lower extremities. He joined Human Designs in 2002 and is a valuable member of the team.

Sofie Avila, Certified Mastectomy Fitter

Mrs. Avila has enjoyed working in the healthcare field for over 14 years. She graduated from Bryman School in 1985 with a degree in Medical Office Management. She began her medical career working as an office manager for a pediatric office in 1986. She then went on to manage an Ob/Gyn practice for 6 years, until 1996.

While at the Ob/Gyn practice, Mrs. Avila learned she loved interacting with patients and helping women. She has a wonderful uplifting personality and knew she could help women who have had mastectomies. She joined Human Designs in April 1996 and currently serves as a Certified Mastectomy Fitter.

Mrs. Avila evaluates and fits mastectomy patients in the Arcadia location.

Ana Maria Lozano, Certified Mastectomy Fitter

Ms. Lozano joined the Human Designs Team in 2002, after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from University of California, Irvine.  Her positive attitude and attention to detail have allowed her to successfully manage the Long Beach and Tustin locations as the Office Manager.  She enjoys interacting with her patients and is proud to be recognized by the American Board of Certification as a Certified Mastectomy Fitter.

Ms. Lozano evaluates and fits patients at our Long Beach and Tustin locations.
